These old-fashioned, lightly spiced cookies have a cake-like texture. The raisins add little bursts of sweet, chewy goodness. Another of Mom's favorites.
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cups raisins (or craisins)
1 cup chopped nuts
In small bowl, toss the raisins and chopped nuts in a teaspoon of flour. The flour will keep the raisins from sticking together. Set aside.
Mix remaining ingredients together until well blended. Add the raisin and nut mixture. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 until golden brown and slightly puffed, 8-10 minutes. Enjoy.
